Why visit Hyder — which boasts a population of 100 and no paved roads? There is a fantastic opportunity to safely view black and grizzly bears as they fish for salmon the second week of August (give or take a few days). There’s also an even narrower, gravel road that climbs to Salmon Glacier and great views all the way and down!

Thanks to Terry & Sue’s recommendation, we did have a great fish dinner at the “Bus” – which was literally a bus… nicely painted…but still a blue bus.
