The sea filled the bottom third of this narrow, glacier-carved canyon leaving Misty Fjord with its snow-capped cliffs soaring 3,ooo feet and spewing magnificent falls of spring melt water.
Accessible only by plane or boat, it takes most of a day to get a peek at these wonderful sights. The tour was very pleasant on Allen Marine’s speedy new aluminum catamaran that cruises at 38 mph across the scenic Revillagigedo Channel to reach the calm “canal” of the fjord. There the captain showed-off his ship’s maneuverability and the steepness of the cliffs by “hovering” the 100-foot craft within feet of the waterfalls.
Although the day started like many here — pouring rain — it was dry by time we reached the fjord and despite the cloudy, gray conditions we took a few nice pictures that you will find in the album titled 05-26 Misty Fjord at right.
