Bayous, Shorelines and Birds

Overcrowed Quarters As the weather has warmed up a bit, we are seeing more birds each day as we drive along the shore and cross the Bay bridge – every morning is  a delight! “It would be nice to share this trip with our friends, “I thought. So Saturday morning, we borrowed Terry and Sue’s truck (It’s much taller than our little “bread box”) and their video camera to see if we couldn’t record the gorgeous 15 minute drive to the Habitat office.

Once Dave studied the camera and I studied how long the truck was for making turns, we took off. I wanted to show the beautiful oaks that arch over the road, as we hit Route 90, which runs right along the beach. So, after circling the boulevard a few times while Dave checked out more video buttons, we slowly started down the road.

I’m thinking, “We’re cookin’ now”, when Dave yells out, “Shit!!!! the wind took my hat!” So…we circle around again to pick up the hat. Moving again, Dave finally realizes that my original suggestion that he sit in the back seat so he can video from ether side was, in fact, a pretty darn good one. So…we circle again as he moves all the black bags to front passenger seat.

All the black bags you ask???? Well, who else but Dave (and maybe Terry – if he were with us) would bring their computer on a photo shoot? We also had my camera, Dave’s camera, my paint bag, the video camera bag and binoculars. Plus, a shirt & jacket for each of us, in case it was buggy, windy, rainy, or chilly – take your pick.

After many false starts, we had a delightful day moseying along with various cameras in hand.

Where’s the video????  Well, there was one button that Dave didn’t study quite enough…it seems he recorded his knees and shoes most of the time and then turned off the camera when he aimed at the beach, the trees, the bridge….

I can’t wait to see the wonderful video and all the great pictures of this special day! I have been enjoying everything else you posted. I kinda feel like I’m there. Enjoy the rest of your eventful days in the south.

Hey! Seems to me some of that story should be in blue print! I can just picture your cruising around with cameras aiming in all directions. And I am assuming that when you say Dave was in the back seat, he was in the back of the truck, similar to the way we rode in the truck in Thailand. On second thought, that’s probably not a legal perch in the U.S. Thanks for a great story and great images!
    Keep truckin’

    Susi,

You are a good story teller! You also exaggerate a lot!!!!

Beyond that, you are mostly pretty accurate. However, please note that I also recorded some rather dramatic footage of my flannel shirt.

    Love,
    Dave
