What an accomplishment for Habitat for Humanity’s 1st disaster response affiliate! Founded 9 months after Katrina, and with strong support from the Jackson, MS. affiliate, this affiliate has much to celebrate – 275 people are now living in safe, simple cottage homes in a little over 3 years. On Monday morning the 99th house was partially complete and a slab was ready for construction on the 100th. Sixty volunteers and both families  went right to work.

By Friday noon, the gang posed for a photo in front of the 100th house, while much progress had also been made on the 99th house.

Some of the 98 families not only attended the dedications, but also provided deserts for the luncheon meal. Over 150 attended the noon celebration, including members from the Jackson affiliate and local dignitaries. No one had a dry eye, when the Landry children arrived shortly before noon to see their house for the first time that week!
