I met Madeline at the site of her future home. She came prepared with a written “Thank you” note. Spontaneously, since I had video capability on my camera, we recorded her reading it. Almost everyone here has a similar story to tell…

This is the beginning of my task to interview Habitat partner families. So far, I have had the privilege of talking with the families who will be buying the next two houses: numbers 99 and 101.

This Habitat affiliate interviews each family right before construction begins on their house. Photos, a note written by the family and the interview are all posted on the affiliate web site, and an email version is sent to the people who will be working on the house

In the course of the interview,  Madeline and I discovered that we are both avid readers – we both teared up a bit when Madeline said, “it was almost two years before I could buy a book – once you’ve lost everything, it takes a while to be willing to be attached to things again.”

What a blessing it is for me to do this work!
