<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n We thought we\u2019d make our way to what we called \u201cthe safety zone\u201d of 40 degree weather and find a place to snooze. But the road called us\u2026 Outside <\/span>of Nashville, we found the scenic Nachez Trace Parkway \u2013 a historic road with no commercial traffic on it that stretches from Nashville to Nachez, Louisania.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Susi, who was driving, was ecstatic to not have to deal with all the semis and cars passing her as she poked along at the brisk pace of 55. We loved viewing the beautiful Tennessee hills at a more relaxed pace. In fact, it was about an hour later that we realized that not only was anyone passing us, but there was no traffic heading the opposite direction. Our second observation, shortly after that, was that there weren\u2019t any noticeable exits in which to get gas, or find a place to rest\u2026.hummmm.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Around 5:00pm, we found an empty camp ground, and headed in to set up camp. As we popped out of the RV, we found that our nifty Scion (lovingly called \u201cthe box\u201d) that we tow, had taken one bump too many and had one of it\u2019s rear plastic bumpers hanging by one screw! <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n So, 13 hours later, minus \u00bd a plastic bumper, we finished the day with soup and champagne to celebrate our first day on the road. <\/a> Oh no!!! A last minute weather check Saturday night warned us of the nasty prediction of rain, sleet and snow stretching from Columbus through Northern Kentucky, beginning VERY EARLY Sunday. Being novice RV drivers, reluctant to expose ourselves to slippery roads, we made the decision to go for a 4:00am departure (with about 2 \u2013 3 hours of sleep) as the sleet began.<\/span><\/p>\n
