\"Katheryn<\/a> This morning was another ‘nudge Dave awake – the sun is shining’ kind of morning. But, since he was up ’til 3:00am working on my art website, I thoughtfully<\/em> crept outside to take some photos at 6:30am. Of course, that lead to pulling out my paints…<\/p>\n

We stayed last night in a small, family operated, campsite called Glacier View – and it certainly lived up to it’s name! Katheryn Glacier actually has a few names, but that’s the one all the locals call the mountain. Our 3 other camper couples chatted with me while I painted – one couple from Germany, one from Saskatchewan, and the 3rd from Prince George.<\/p>\n

I learned how to tell the difference from snow and glacier ice (it’s green and glows, especially in the fall against the Aspen leaves). And, most important, confirmed my theory that glaciers turn the water that gray green color – which Dave had pooh-pooed a few days ago.<\/p>\n

The pics that Dave & I put into the album called 05-20 Smithers to Terrace<\/a> at right show the gorgeous scenery we found on Route 16 – we couldn’t resist the challenge of photographing the most photographed bridge in Canada (Hilwilget in Hazelton). Say that 3 times, fast….<\/p>\n

We’re about 2 hours from Prince Rupert, and our first ferry ride on the Alaskan Marine Highway, in a town called Terrace. The teen at the Terrace grocery store couldn’t believe that we would actually visit her boooring town when EVERYWHERE else is so much more exciting. Personally, I think camping in a valley, surrounded by glacier covered mountains is pretty darm exciting!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
