I met Madeline at the site of her future home. She came prepared with a written “Thank you” note. Spontaneously, since I had video capability on my camera, we recorded her reading it. Almost everyone here has a similar story to tell…<\/p>\n

This is the beginning of my task to interview Habitat partner families. So far, I have had the privilege of talking with the families who will be buying the next two houses: numbers 99 and 101.<\/p>\n

This Habitat affiliate interviews each family right before construction begins on their house. Photos, a note written by the family and the interview are all posted on the affiliate web site<\/a>, and an email version is sent to the people who will be working on the house<\/p>\n

In the course of the interview,\u00a0 Madeline and I discovered that we are both avid readers – we both teared up a bit when Madeline said, “it was almost two years before I could buy a book – once you’ve lost everything, it takes a while to be willing to be attached to things again.”<\/p>\n

What a blessing it is for me to do this work!<\/p>\n
