I guess I had never resized my window small enough to see the sidebar cover the calendar. I'm not sure what it would take to fix it, because the calendar code comes from Google. It if were getting a bit of use, then I might delve into it, but since no one seems to be referring to nor updating this extended family calendar, I probably won't attack it right now.
